The Toxic Ten:  Top Power Plant Emissions of Mercury, Toxic Metals, and Acid Gases in 2011

Emissions of mercury and other air toxics from coal-fired power plants continue to decline, but the largest remaining sources still emit high levels of dangerous contaminants that can significantly harm people and the environment.  This report identifies the top ten U.S. power plants based on company self-reported releases of mercury, arsenic and other toxic metals, and acid gases into the air in 2011, based on new data from the U.S. EPA's Toxics Release Inventory database.
