Texas Judge Rejects Construction Permit for New Power Plant Citing Failure to Meet Clean Air Act Toxic Emission Standards

On May 14, 2012, a Texas state district court judge ruled in favor of the Environmental Integrity Project, a coalition of environmental groups, Texas cities, and local residents, finding that the state environmental agency’s decision to issue an air pollution permit authorizing the Las Brisas Energy Center, a petroleum coke-fired power plant proposed to be constructed in Corpus Christi, Texas, was legally flawed.
