Dredge Project in Patapsco River Basin Raises Warning Flags for Aquatic and Human Health

Analysis of Sparrows Point Shipyard sediment shows levels of lead and other metals, as well as organic chemical concentrations, exceeding National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration's (NOAA) screening thresholds by as much as 3 to 6 times. The Maryland Port Authority and Maryland Department of Transportation commissioned analysis raises questions as to the impact more excessive dredging for the LNG plant will have upon aquatic and human life.
