EIP AND ENVIRONMENTAL GROUPS ASK EPA ENFORCEMENT PROGRAM TO INCREASE STATE OVERSIGHT AND STEP UP ENFORCEMENT AGAINST COAL WASTE IMPOUNDMENTS

The Environmental Integrity Project, Earthjustice, Sierra Club, Environment America and Appalachian Voices weighed in with comments on EPA's proposed enforcement priorities for 2011-2013, asking EPA to improve oversight of weak state programs, and target illegal coal ash dumpsites and toxic wastewater discharges from coal plants.  The groups also asked for better enforcement of federal laws that limit refinery pollution and the discharge of wastewater from factory farms.
